Been playing around with some new ideas.  Making gems out of metal is one of them.  These are the result.  Carved from a single slab of bronze, then faceted with a file, buffed to a high shine with silver posts.  I really like the way these came out, and they go well with other earrings if you have multiple piercings.

Right Whale Earrings

Highly endangered, and highly awesome. Right whales are so named because they used to be the “right” whale for getting oil for lamps. Lucky for us they are now protected and are struggling back from the brink of extinction.

Having these little guys swimming along next to you all day is sure to make you happy.

Copper whales, with a gorgeous speckled patina. Silver chain, and jump rings, and stainless surgical steel ear wires.

Bike Heart

Made another bike hear for a customer, this one came out really nice and a dark black that really shines. That’s the thing about using patinas they don’t always come out the way you want, but sometimes they come out much nicer than you hoped. Copper with patina, silver jump ring, hand cut.

Runner Head Badge

Made this for a customer, nickel background with copper top layer. I am still getting the hang of nickel, it expands and contracts greatly when you torch it… tricky would be the word I would use. But I think it came out well, and I am really liking how the patina is unique and different every time you apply it to the copper, you never know what you are going to get.
